DEKA Education Services

The group was started in December 2021 after noticing the teachers in Kenya were uncertain about the new Education system- Curriculum Based Curriculum (CBC). This prompted us to read through the CBC framework during which we realized that our colleagues were frustrated by what we do every day in our classes in the Diaspora and as a result, we have a wealth of experience. So, the interested members came together and started brainstorming on how we can help and give back to the CBC teaching fraternity back home.
Along the way, many of the members dropped out as the project was demanding in terms of time and effort. We are now 5 members who have survived the many challenges of time.
Our current mission is to develop short courses to train teachers in the various areas of concern that cut across the entire curriculum e.g., CBC vision and Mission, Learner values, differentiation, Testing and evaluation, lesson planning and delivery, inclusion, and special needs within the classroom(integration) among others.
So far, we have developed seven (7) such courses which are ready for roll-out. We will continue to develop more and include specific ones for each of the subjects.
The most important aspect of our training courses and materials is that they are very hands-on and full of activities that exemplify and demonstrate the application of teaching and learning strategies in the classroom.
Our vision is to expand into developing and providing similar courses and other education services according to the demands emerging in the Kenyan education sector and beyond.
We look forward to partnering with stakeholders and other Education bodies in the quest to realize the Kenyan Education Dream.
