DEKA House Investment

Our Mission
The DEKA Welfare was muted in the year 2018 and came into being in August 2019, with the Welfare Constitution being enacted, approved, and passed by the members. Membership was initially voluntary and open to all registered DEKA members. However various resolutions passed by the main DEKA members over the years aimed at making Welfare membership mandatory for everyone registered under DEKA/KDE.
Aim and Objectives (Article 2: Welfare Constitution.)
The aim of the Fund is to provide support to members registered as DEKA Members. The specific objectives are as follows:
- To provide monetary support to members and immediate family during times of bereavement.
- To provide financial support in form of loans to members in emergency situations I. e. Loans to meet short-term emergencies as per stipulated rules and regulations and dependent on available funds in the kitty. Emergency Tickets and Emergency Medical loans are the only two accommodated at the moment, subject to the availability of funds.
- To improve the economic welfare of members by engaging in income-generating activities wherever possible.
- To bring together the Fund members for a welfare/get-together once a year.
DEKA Welfare Membership
So far, 99 DEKA members have registered for Welfare and 32 of them have been enrolled on the DEKA KCB-UAP Insurance – Last Respect Policy. One member became the pioneer beneficiary of the Ksh. 200,000/- claim payout from UAP after her beloved mum (a beneficiary, fully covered under her policy) passed away. We encourage other members to enroll on the policy as it is beneficial in the long run and ensures your family got some peace of mind when such an unexpected eventuality occurs.
Appreciation
Several other bereaved DEKA/KDE members have benefited from the Welfare, especially through rallying of support for our beloved members through the WhatsApp forums. Our members reach out to the bereaved colleagues and offer words of comfort, prayers and a shoulder to lean on during such distressful sad and difficult moments. The sense of brotherhood and sisterhood experienced during these moments cannot be taken for granted nor ignored. A simple phone call to a colleague in such a state goes a long way in easing the pain and letting them know they are not alone. A prayer soothes the soul as a chat or calls with a colleague, relieves one feeling of depression and sadness, loneliness and despair.
So far more than 25 members have benefited in one way or another from DEKA Welfare, in terms of either financial or moral support during such low moments in their lives. I am one such beneficiary and I thank my colleagues in DEKA for stepping in, through personal phone calls from all over the world, messages in all forms and financial support during my bereavement, when my mum passed away after a short illness, during the Covid-19 lockdowns. This happened at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic when the entire airspace was on lockdown and countries were on full lockdown or some form of restrictions/curfews. As such, I could not fly back home to be with my family, sisters and brothers in mourning my beloved Mum. It was one devastating moment in my life, which left a tight knot in my heart, difficult to uncurl. I will never forget this moment in my life. The Welfare members, together with other DEKA members rallied behind me in mourning my beloved mum, and I do appreciate their love and care for me and all our dear colleagues in DEKA who have lost loved ones. Thank you and I pray to God Almighty to bless and multiply the fruits of your labour.
