DEKA Virtual Staffroom

KDE Virtual Staffroom

KDE Virtual Staffroom was created out of goodwill by our chairman, on 19th November 2016.  Socialization is a process and human endeavor to discover truths about the world around us and learn how to behave in a manner that’s acceptable to society. First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the KDE/DEKA Chairman, Mr. Mathews Ocharo for allowing the creation of this noble platform for the members, guided by the rules, engage and share information as well as socialize. This feel-at-home feeling is enormous and has improved our social wellbeing in our place of work worldwide.

The KDE VIRTUAL STAFFROOM has over 148 members currently teaching in different parts of the world who, despite their political, social, economic, or and time zone differences we are able to pass a cross our beautiful stories on the platform. It has brought the vibrant status of a real “school staffroom” set-up in a school where teachers share the banters, daily BREAKING NEWS, Early morning Reading magazines and journals and Newspapers from Mathews,  sports especially football matches, Rugby, Athletics and without forgetting the HORROR LATE NIGHT NEWS (VIDEOS) from our own Shakur. Therefore, KDE VIRTUAL STAFFROOM, as it is, has a “rich experience of events” both in history and in real-time.

In our group, and as admins, we do close monitoring and filtering of every post posted in the group each time the group is active. If by mistake or intentionally, a post that violates the group rules finds its way to the group, immediately, we act on it either by sending a direct message to the teacher(s) concerned, reminding them of any rule violation, or remove the post permanently from the group. Secondly, a member will be removed from the group after being served with at least 3 repeated warnings for repeated violations of the rules. Sanctity is the key in any group leadership…

The following are the current KDE Virtual Staffroom admins

·    Mathew Ocharo- KDE/DEKA Chairman

·    Kennedy Bwanga

·    Maureen Matei

·    Polycarp Ondieki

In the group as a whole, we discourage sharing and articulation/support of divisive politics, as we know a teacher is a blessed being who doesn’t have boundaries based on politics, race, or religion. The teacher creates a learning environment to the kids that promote curiosity, inquiry, and exploration, which are crucial to all our teaching subjects’ success. We teach and nurture the kids to be responsible humans. Indeed, the teachers are commended for the good work they are doing.

Like any other social media group platform, we have the guiding rules and principles.

These rules, starting with an opening statement, a quote from Thomas Jefferson 1790, the third President of the United States of America from 1801 to 1809, dubbed as KDE SOCIAL RULES are shown below:

Opening Statement:

“Man is capable of living in society, governing itself by laws self-imposed, and securing to its members the enjoyment of life, liberty, property, and peace.”  ~Thomas Jefferson 1790

  1. All members in this group are sane, of adult mind, and capable of self-regulating whatever they post.
  2. Whatever is posted should not be a personal attack directed at any member of the group. Neither should a member post private escapades that are purely for private consumption. We should be conscious of both public and private spaces. KDE social is a public forum that envisages that we are all teachers who will know what’s best to post.
  3. Any political post should not canvass, articulate or propagate the agenda of any political party in Kenya. KDE comprises members from different political spectrums and to create harmony let’s all be non-partisan. Political posts of general nature devoid of sectarian interest are welcome.
  4. Pornographic explicit material cannot be posted on KDE. First and foremost, we are teachers who have their integrities to protect. Interested parties can inbox each other where need be if at all any arises.
  5. Gender sensitivity should be exercised. Posts that adversely cast one gender negatively to the detriment of members should be avoided. When castigating a member for posting something one is uncomfortable with, inbox the person and reprimand privately. Let’s not wash our dirty linen in public.
  6. KDE VIRTUAL STAFFROOM is a sub-set of KDE formal. KDE Staffroom is a virtual staff-room where teachers can freely interact with the decency and engage in ‘banter staff-room talk’ while bearing in mind that we are above all teachers.

Finally, I would like to thank The Almighty God for His Care throughout the year. I also thank all members for keeping our KDE VIRTUAL STAFFROOM clean by following to the letter the above rules.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL GOD BLESS KDE/DEKA.

Nimemalizia hapo. Ngoja nimwendee Mzee Mchekea Mwezi akanipe riziki, huenda  baadaye nikapiga Mboze na Mize kwa teo moja nikale ugali na matembele.

 Akhsanteni!!
